Laser
Lasers are mostly used for reducing the appearance of scars, macules, pigmentation, moles, and wrinkles. I know some places offer lasers as part of an acne treatment program, however, I would advise against using lasers while you still have active acne. Read about my experience with laser resurfacing for why.
However, cosmetic medical lasers are very helpful and do a number of different things. They can remove hair, tattoos, and even warts and skin tags. Below is a chart of different types of lasers and what they are used for:
TYPES OF LASERS
CO2 Laser |
Removes warts, skin tags
*I’ve actually had this done before on my thumb to remove a wart. If the laser is to remove a bigger piece of soft tissue, you will be injected with anesthetics first. The laser just kind of burnt a giant hole in my skin (about the size of a pencil eraser) and took about a month to heal.*

Hair removal, spider veins
*I’ve also had this type of laser done, however, not for hair removal or spider veins. I believe this type of laser is more popular in Asia for acne treatments and pore "refinement". They use it in this procedure called 黑面娃娃 (or black face doll in English) See my experience with it here.*

Pulsed Dye |
Vascular lesions, pigmentation, wrinkles, broken capillaries, stretch marks, scars
Fraxel |
Pigmentation, melasma, sun spots, age spots, acne scars, acne macules, skin resurfacing
*this type of laser has quick wound healing but supposedly hurts like the dickens*
V-beam |
Spider veins, red blotches, marks, scars, birthmarks
